A decades-old, Austin-based national retail giant with more than 70 stores in nineteen states, Golfsmith swung into Manhattan with this cavernous one-room superstore in midtown that can take shoppers from zero to tee-ready in one visit. The knowledgeable staff guides customers through drivers, irons, and grips from major manufacturers like Nike, Ping, TaylorMade, and Titleist, and accessories ranging from tees to divot tools. In-store tee boxes enhanced with monitors and sensors can analyze a customer’s swing mechanics. And there are plenty of styles for the green, like Under Armour and Nike polo tops, sweater vests and slacks from Bugatchi and Ben Hogan, and shoes by FootJoy, Nike, and Adidas. Golfsmith also has a stash of gear for another country-club sport: tennis. There’s a variety of Prince, Wilson, and Head rackets and gear, and the store will string and repair rackets on-site.
