This Park Slope store sells comfortable walking shoes meant to weather the wear and tear of wandering the urban terrain. Mostly sneakers and sandals, with a few hiking boots thrown in, the kicks here are shelved on the store's wood-paneled walls and stacked in boxes. With brand names like Patagonia, Keen, Chaco, and Teva, the stock is a fair sampling of footwear you would likely find in a camping or hiking store, but most neighborhood customers—whether younger city explorers or weary parents—come in for a quick, easy fitting of comfortable city-walking shoes. Some of the women’s Birkenstock sandals have a sporty style and the Merrill’s men’s hiking shoes come in dazzling shades, but style is generally secondary to function here.
