What began as a horse-cart-based enterprise in turn-of-the-last-century Pittsburgh is now, four generations later, a family-run heritage brand with twenty stores spread across the country. The line’s vintage aesthetic informed the Park Slope’s store design. Many furnishings and fittings were found at local antique shops, and the walnut-finished mahogany library-style shelving, custom built for the slender space, exhibits best-selling wool fedoras for men and women, old-school houndstooth gatsbys and satin-lined cloches that bring to mind long-ago movie starlets. But while the Heritage Collection continues to be made in the same American factory as earlier iterations (and on hat blocks that date back to 1895), offerings also include more modern styles, like no-nonsense cotton flatcaps and Ashton Kutcher–worthy truckers.
