Owner John Byron, who prides himself on speaking all of the principal languages found in this northernmost corner of Brooklyn (English, Polish, and Spanish), replaced a Dial-A-Mattress storefront with this home-furniture shop in 1995. The small retail space is cramped: A cluttered hodgepodge of bedroom sets, recliners, end tables, and dining-room chairs in various wood stains flanks a narrow aisle, where staff members hover and await questions. Your best bet is to flip through one of the catalogues on hand, since most of the inventory is held in a warehouse farther down the street at 1078 Manhattan Avenue. Drawn from mostly domestic makers (Acme, Kilim, Pelican Reef) but also some international labels (International Furniture Gallery), the furnishings generally have a straightforward, functional design; are reasonably priced; and can be delivered nationwide.
