Guess’s 13,000-square-foot, two-story flagship may look modest on the outside, but inside, it’s a mirrored, chandeliered, and black-chain-mail-bedecked explosion. All of the brand’s various clothing and accessory lines are represented here, along with some exclusive pieces. Downstairs, the original Guess women’s line is displayed on red mannequins wearing tight jeans and body-revealing shirts, while shiny stilettos and even shinier watches rest in front of screens playing larger-than-life clips of runway shows. Upstairs are Guess by Marciano’s colorful, filmy cutout blouses, showing off shoulders and necks, along with a section filled with slinky dresses. There are also structured handbags and clutches, and the European jewelry line has all the hearts, chains, and trinkets any tween could hope for. Meanwhile, male shoppers can peruse the casual plaid button-ups and shelves of jeans, or just rest up in the plush chairs in the various shoe sections.
Although the clothes hint at an effortlessly cool vibe, its line of watches—for both men and women—is surprisingly sophisticated. The mostly-silver square and round faces have a modern art deco look, with unconventionally designed dials, oversized numbers and the occasional rhinestone detail. Coordinating bands, from leather to matte steel, come in a range of colors, and one even mimics an old-school candy necklace.
