In 1899, Rochester-based partners Jacob Freeman and Jeremiah Hickey had visions of creating a classic menswear line for financial-district types; they wanted their line to incorporate both the value of ready-to-wear and the fit of made-to-measure. Today, the duo’s stores are greatly informed by this dual mission. While browsing wool and twill suits, cashmere sweaters, silk ties, and tailored shirts, you’ll quickly learn that Hickey’s is no slave to fashion; customers here couldn’t care less about what GQ has declared “in” for the season. These guys just want a well-fitting, no-nonsense replacement for their nine-to-five suit, or maybe an update for their weekend-in-Westchester chinos.
