The Hightower Group showroom exudes a Nordic poise in the curving and unembellished stackable chairs, in the simple, unified rhythm of the floor and window treatments, and in the bulbous shapes of floor and wall lamps by Light Years. Despite the contemporary designs, nothing here is cold or pretentious. Most of the Hightower lines are casual, comfortable, even family-friendly. Geometric rugs and carpets come from Hanna Korvela, and lounge chairs and tables from the quirky Swedese and Fredericia lines. The mid-century modern designs of Edward Wormley, one of the few American designers represented here, are ironically the jewel Hightower’s crown. Wormley’s most well-known designs, like the Chamberlain nine-foot sofa and Listen-to-Me chaise, are reproduced to his original specs.
