Metal artist Leisah Swenson and chef Monica Byrne opened Home/Made in July 2008 near Red Hook's waterfront, just a few blocks from their original joint business venture, Tini wine bar café. The couple's eclectic shop gathers together an assortment of accessories for the home and body: artisan-crafted pieces including paintings by local artist Elizabeth Buckley and candle sconces; belt buckles and necklaces by Swenson (who also made the shelving and bar at Tini); antique chairs and mirrors with an industrial edge, discovered on various road trips; and contemporary, earth-friendly products like wicker baskets and stoneware dish sets. The small store with a grass-green door has a backyard and grill that can host private parties for up to 50 people. And the partners also cater off-site weddings, baby showers, and other celebrations.
