This Aussie-themed spot specializes in ice cream, sorbet and chocolates that use all-natural ingredients. But despite the Down Under trappings, it's actually the first U.S. outpost of a booming Netherlands chain. At least the "homemade" claim is no gimmick! Desserts are whipped up daily: Smooth, richly textured ice cream served slightly above freezing temperature, with a consistency somewhere between gelato and soft serve comes in chocolate, vanilla and six or so other ever-changing flavors; among the sorbets are a tart apple as well as a refreshing melon. The buttery Belgian-style chocolates, flown in from Amsterdam, are decorated with transfers of aboriginal art: Dreamers are filled with white ganache, almond or coconut while open-topped Bonzers get their kick from crushed nuts or spices. The shop has a sort of tribal-mod design, with shiny aluminum surfaces, and an aboriginal patterned floor. During nice weather, the glass storefront opens up to provide sidewalk seating as well.
ExtraCoffee, lattes, espressos and hot chocolate are also on the menu, as well as a delicious coffee ice cream shake.
