Profile
Like its sister location in Soho, Jeremy Argyle’s West Village storefront is known primarily as a destination for shirts. Launched in 2009 by former retail consultant Brian Jeremy Guttman, the brand is all about button-downs ($148). They’re traditional but usually pack a slight twist, like a contrasting patterned lining, colorful accents, or a bright pattern hidden under the placket. Shirts can be worn casual or formal in either “fitted” or “comfort” versions, and Guttman produces a new design in small quantities every week. It’s a favorite look for the professional twenty- and thirtysomething crowd, and even the occasional celebrity (Michael Phelps and Philip Seymour Hoffman, to name a few). The cozy Bleecker Street space was initially conceived as a shirt-exclusive business, but now there are sweaters ($158 to $178), ties ($88), and even hoodies ($188).
