For a designer whose first collection in Hamburg showed only all-white uniforms, Jil Sander’s initial severity has grown more generous, incorporating diaphanous dresses and eye-catching prints. Still, her pure and simple approach to good fabric and fine tailoring makes Sander’s creations fashion staples. Beautifully cut dresses enhance the figure rather than hide it, and sleeveless blouses touched of ruffles make a subtly feminine statement. Make no mistake, this is investment fashion: A pudding-soft leather skirt might run cost as much as three weeks in Europe, but paired with one of Sander’s classic white button-downs and a pair of her three-inch gold sandals, the look is timeless and ever-fresh. Lean, crisply tailored resort wear occupies the first floor, with slim-fitting suits and crinkled blazers for men up on the second floor. Slouchy handbags, leather goods and Sander’s perfume collection are found throughout the store, each piece perfectly laid out in the immaculate space. — Jeannette Park
