Jill Fagin began designing jewelry for friends in the eighties, selling her curvy, beaded creations out of her apartment. She has since expanded into making stemware, tableware, and home accents, with each piece incorporating her signature combination of swirling aluminum wires and colorful glass beads. This eclectic, sublevel space doubles as a store and design studio, where Fagin makes everything on site with a small team of jewelry artisans. The crowded shop presents a hodgepodge of handcrafted gifts and offbeat vintage wares, mixing Fagin’s curvaceous recycled aluminum necklaces and earrings with chunky eighteen-karat-gold-plated cocktail rings from Brazilian designer MGold and assorted vintage baubles, like a gold cuff bracelet from YSL. Shelves near the entryway display artistic serving dishes, utensils, candlesticks, and an array of stemware. Neighboring NYU students sift through the rotating array of vintage accessories, like stacks of silver and gold clutches, affordable rows of belts, and glittery shelves of chandelier earrings.
