Profile
At this small, carefully stocked wine shop in the West Village, the vast majority of bottles are under $25, and all are personally selected by the store’s owner, Joel Zighelboim, who previously operated Pasita, a wine bar and restaurant. The layout is unassuming, with wines lining each wall and several crates in the center, and there’s no hint of oenophile snobbishness—each wine is displayed with a printed list that describes its characteristics and origin. There are monthly free wine tastings of six to ten bottles (they’re usually held during the last week of the month) and bimonthly joint classes with nearby Murray’s Cheese.
