Profile

Jooneechees, which means twelve in Japanese, was born out of owner Ann Poole’s desire to open a store whose display would change every month. The purple walls and white shelves of the warmly lit one-room space give it a light and fun atmosphere, and Poole normally sits at the front of the room, ready to answer questions. The gift shop specializes in both cards and drinking glasses. Colorful and quirky, the glasses range in shape from martini to wavy and often have a whimsical touch, while the artist-designed greeting cards are filled with handmade elements that offer a bit of flare, like decorative cutouts or pieces of string. Depending on the theme of the month, the store also offers treats like playful baby socks, napkins with sarcastic sayings, artwork, and even dog biscuits.
