In 1997, women younger than the Golden Girls-set started wearing terry cloth and velour tracksuits. But this wasn't schlep-to-the-grocery-store apparel; these were ultra-comfy little numbers, brightly hued, and had the word "juicy" plastered across the derriere. They became an instant phenomenon and years later, Juicy Couture has expanded their playful spirit to full lines of men's and women’s wear, accessories, and children's clothing, plus even fragrance. Though the trademark booty-covering label is no longer as ubiquitous, ballet flats, bikinis, and hoodies are all available at the Juicy shops in a rainbow of colors. Each of the three New York locations incorporates the brand's flirty if kitschy style into the decor, as well as huge jars filled with dime-store candy and walls splattered with pop art nicely complement the California-cute clothes, leather handbags, and (who would’ve guessed?) dog wear. And with the elegant Couture Couture line in the mix, the store sees all kinds ripping through the racks, as even moms, if not grandmas, catch on.
