As owner Candice Waldron listens to one customer, pulls sizes for another, works the phone, and sorts out a courier seeking a sample loan, it's easy to imagine her fast-paced former life as a television producer. But here the vibe is breezy, and shoppers—mostly twenty- and thirtysomething members of the L-train set (and Japanese and European tourists trading devalued dollars for a bit of Brooklyn cred)—are spared the hyper-cheerful hard sell amid Jumelle’s grown-up girly decor of vintage floral wallpaper and painted white floorboards. Guided by obsessive research and past experience dressing for the office, Waldron seems to have spot-on instincts when selecting inventory. She regularly sells out of staples like jeans from Gray Ant and Deener, Isabel Marant's boho, body-conscious dresses, and Sonia Rykiel's playful Parisian knits— all of which can elevate a working girl's wardrobe to a haute new level.
SalesBiannual sales in July and January.
