A Buy Buy Baby for the jet set, Just For Tykes is, in many ways, everything the Chelsea megastore is not: High-end, relaxed, well-edited, and manageable. But just like BBB, Tykes provides one-stop shopping for expectant parents, offering everything from furniture and clothes to bedding, toys, gear and gifts. Catamini, IKKS, Zutano, Petite Bateau and other high-quality clothing brands—mainly European imports, with Juicy Couture and Quicksilver thrown into the mix—hold pride of place in the front of the store; don’t miss the Claude T-shirts, made from cut-down vintage Harley and concert T’s. The contemporary, custom-order, predominantly hardwood furniture comes from Nursery Works, Hic-cup, Oeuf, and Bratt Décor, and is complemented by incredibly soft, beautifully detailed and often whimsical bedding from such companies as Serena & Lilly, Warthog Way and Bella Notte. Toys and games are mostly educational and old fashioned—Radio Flyer wagons, Playmobil kits, Pockets of Learning, and Haba wooden toys imported from Germany. There are Baby Bjorns and Maclaren strollers, of course, and the store even services and keeps spare parts for its stock of Bugaboo strollers. Gift registry service is also available. — Andrew Sessa
