This cottage boutique is quintessential Greenwich Village from its brick exterior crawling with vines to its narrow, packed-to-the-rafters interior. Other than a small selection of letterpress stationery from Carrot & Stick Press and some scented candles from Anecdote of Paris, the focus here is resolutely on the decoupage of owner Carol Kaas. Using reproductions of prints sourced from antique shops and flea markets, Kaas pastes together vivid scenes and images on glass. Flora and fauna, travel advertisements, vintage maps, anatomical diagrams, and fashion plates are all transformed into one-of-a-kind conversation pieces, the best of which reflect the proprietor’s cheeky sense of humor.
