Profile
Dancers David Lee and Tricia Kaye founded KD in 1980, and over the years, the collection (now owned solely by Lee) has grown from basics like leg warmers and warm-ups to include apparel for yoga and Pilates. The easy-to-wash cotton dancewear is available in an array of 24 pastel and earthy tones that can be ordered directly from KD’s Bronx factory if not stocked in the tiny Noho storefront. But KD really shines in the knitwear department: loose-fitting, flexing-friendly garb like arm warmers, wrap tops, and linen kimono-sleeved sweaters, all of which are about as airy and lightweight as a knit can get. There’s also an assortment of Votivo scented candles and lotions, and the black Freed pointe shoe—an exclusively co-branded flat—can put a spring in the step of dancers and non-dancers alike.
