Profile

This venue is closed.

A trained silversmith with an MBA, Barry Kieselstein-Cord started his collection in 1971, and soon gained fans like Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey. Papa Barry still designs most of the jewelry, while his daughter, socialite and Vogue darling Elizabeth, oversees handbags and sunglasses. Accordingly, walking into the boutique is a little like stepping into the accessories pages of a glossy fashion rag: The walls are lined with photos of models sporting the latest jewels and sunglasses, handbags await their close-ups on pedestals, and stark white pinspots shine bright on customers and goods alike. While the bags aren’t as strongly hyped as those by Gucci or Bottega Venetta, they share a comparable attention to detail, use of exotic skins like python and suede, and impressive price tag. Famous for its tangled, bedazzled vines of bracelets and necklaces, the Kieselstein-Cord Diamond Collection is available only for preview; pieces can be ordered for special home delivery. The rest of the collection, including sterling silver cufflinks and leather belts gleaming in deep glass cases, is readily on offer. With an unabashed love of luxury and glitz, all of Kieselstein-Cord’s offerings include signature touches like jade-encrusted fixtures on the sunglasses or elaborately worked silver clasps on otherwise simple bracelets—think David Yurman-goes-Gothic-chic.
