Profile
Thorunn Anspach and Olivier Bremond opened their first shop in Iceland in 2005, a playful, experimental retail space that they filled with clothing, books, toys, glassware, stationery, and whatever other artistic oddities struck their fancy. The pair expanded into this Stateside outpost in summer 2008, a roomy, colorful store where tables and shelves are packed with a crush of giftable items. Some of the wares made the trip with them from Iceland—fur-lined wool caps from Farmers Market Iceland, merino mittens from 66°North, and cozy cardigans—but the stock hails from Europe, Asia, and the U.S. as well. Low shelves display lambskin clutches and wallets by Jerome Dreyfuss and vibrant handbags by Sonia Rykiel, while nearby glass cases house jewelry dripping with gold baubles and charms from Pellini Milano. Children’s clothing fills tables in back, including graphic-print Lorra tees, hand-knit hats by Polder, Pepe leather shoes, and chic little jumpers, sweaters, and tweed coats. The crowded shelves near the entrance bear Moleskine journals, stationery, and coffee-table tomes like Green Homes by Sergi Costa Duran. The expansive, quirky selection makes this a convenient gifting destination, whether the recipient is male, female, or pint-sized.
