Hard-to-find streetwear and original collaborations make this shop a sneaker-fiend’s dream. Hip-hop music blares throughout the narrow store, which shares its traffic with next-door boutique Atrium. Rows of sneakers, boots, and shoes line the walls of the sleek, dark wood-paneled shop—there’s everything from Jeremy Scott–designed Adidas to classic punk-beloved Dr. Martens, preppy-perfect loafers and shoes by the likes of Yuketen. The brainchild of a designer and native New Yorker, the store name was inspired by the phrase “kith and kin,” meaning friends and family, and the store’s staff imbue the space with a notably welcoming vibe. Though the in-store apparel collection is considerably smaller than its footwear offerings, shoppers can pick up exclusive originals like tank tops, shorts, letterman jackets, and sweatpants, all of which are manufactured in New York City. And if any Kith items are not available in the shop, the staff can also have goods delivered from the brand’s flagship in Manhattan (this is the second Kith outpost in the city) for Brooklyn residents who’d rather skip the subway trip downtown.
