Long worshipped as one of the premier Paris chocolatiers thanks to its
combination of luxe ingredients and decadent but never cloying chocolate,
Maison du Chocolat boasts highlights like tennis-ball-size,
just-crunchy-enough Rocher pralines. A tea room on the premises offers chocolate lovers immediate gratification.
My daughter and I have been to NYC three times (midwesterners). This is the best chocolate in the world. I have ordered chocolate via internet (Z's), etc. and NOTHING can compare with this. I discovered it on my first trip, while waiting in line for the Caroline Rhea Show (2002). Immaculate store and immaculate staff. Very caring, and are not miffed if you spend under $50. Lovely everything
As a Personal Chef, I recommend to those travelling into New York City that they make a stop into La Maison du Chocolat. They are the "end-all-and-be-all" of upscale Chocolatier's! I had the honor of meeting Robert Linxe(owner/creator)when I was attending Peter Kump's New York Cooking School(currently known now as : I.C.E. in Chelsea)back in 1993.
The Champagne Truffle alone will satiate any "foodie's" need for the ultimate chocolate fix. One taste and you will forget about all of those "mall-based" chocolate companies(as in Godiva and Neuhaus)who typically use fillers and portions of WAX to keep their products sellable for long periods). La Maison ships the chocolates from France several times a week -and they are handmade with zero "junk" added!
It's up to you, spend your money on superflous "trinkets" that will ultimately end up in a garage sale, or endulge in amazing chocolate's that you will remember(and purchase)for years to come......
I would hope you might pick the latter..............!
Take care,
