Carole Le Bris Perez’s solid-gold and gold-dipped jewelry is both artistic and playful, decked with candy-colored stones and brightly painted enamel. Her shop is a fittingly cheery place, with exposed brick walls, oceanic blue flooring, floral curtains, and foliage scattered about. The Paris-born designer takes her inspiration from famous artists—her pieces incorporate both the geometric patterns of Mondrian and the neon colors of Warhol—as well as less formal influences, like Hello Kitty, gumballs, and dessert (she gives the shades of enamel names like “strawberry jam,” “warm hazelnut,” and “lemon meringue”). The shop showcases her two lines, one more-affordable collection of hand-painted enamel cast in bronze and dipped in gold (as well as a few sterling pieces), and another of carved semiprecious stones affixed in solid gold. The enamel presents a vivid, glossy sheen, adorning irregular gold bangles and colorful trinkets shaped like leaves, fruit, and twisting snakes. Nearby glass cases house the chunky solid-gold pieces, like cocktail rings and thick bracelets fitted with carved hunks of rose quartz, raw turquoise, citrine, and aquamarine.
