Longtime friends Elinor Arzt and Zarie Mueller opened this Lower East Side boutique together in 2007, bringing a batch of Canadian designers from Mueller’s hometown of Vancouver. Mueller mixes her own in-house line (called Leelush by Zarie Mueller) among rows of vintage and contemporary pieces, consisting of versatile, form-flattering looks in rayon and silk jersey. Apparel from current designers hangs on both sides of the shop against bright blue walls, including Dace tunics, modal dresses from Margarita Saplala, Allison Wonderland tweed jackets, Elroy Organics bubble skirts, and Erin Templeton’s handbags. While new styles come in once a week, the pair hunts down vintage finds in rural Canada—an untapped market even for New York’s voracious vintage dealers—shelving a particularly notable selection of clutches and dainty handbags. Gauzy Alternative Vintage tees provide comfy, fitted basics, and rear sales racks bear the previous season’s stock for up to 50 percent off. — Lauren Murrow
