Emerging designers from Korea, Japan, and China converge in this colorful Lower East Side boutique. Located on the same block as boutique crowd-pleasers Plum and Pear, Lili's selection stands out from the rest for its unusual, intricate details. Dresses feature form-flattering tucks, ruffled hemlines, drop waists, and lace and crocheted necklines. The crowd consists mainly of trendy Lower East Side locals, many of whom drop in while waiting for tables at 'inoteca and Spitzer’s across the street. Tanks from Ouvre Luminous, tunics from Natural Fill, dresses from Stripe, and pleated silk skirts from Number 13 all hail from Korea, while lace-decked shirtdresses and gauzy prints from Have Place arrive from Japan. Although the selection focuses on Asian designers, a few New Yorkers can be found in the mix as well, like Molly New York and J Lee. The prices here start at around $100, trumping those of nearby boutiques, and racks near the entryway are packed with sale items. Funky accessories from China and Korea accent the feminine, swishy frocks, like sparkly red dice earrings or gold trinkets draped with chains and vibrant stones.
