This four-story shop specializes in luxurious and exotic woolen apparel for men and women. With its soft-white walls, earth-toned fiber carpet, and curving staircase to the upper floors (there's also an elevator), Loro is sparsely furnished but richly inviting. There are cashmere sweaters in solid green, blue, and purple hues; gray pinstripe coats with an outer shell made of a buttery-soft wool blend; and scarves in tans, browns, and beiges woven from supersoft and light vicuña fleece, the centerpiece of this Italian company's production. The fleeces are harvested in the Andes, often on lands bought and protected for the rare vicuñas (related to the llama) by Loro Piana. They are then spun and woven in Italy to create the store’s comfortable, elegant, and conservative styles.
