Get in good with the ladies of South Brooklyn, Lucy Banducci says, and they will treat you well. Customers of her Park Slope boutique were so devoted, in fact, that she opened a cozy Carroll Gardens outpost to fulfill demand. Banducci, a former journalist, was driven to open a store by her frustration with the lack of reasonably priced womenswear in her own neighborhood. Her remedy, in the form of Lucia, certainly fills this void: flirty, feminine clothes, jewelry, and shoes with a focus on versatility and affordability. Banducci typically buys from L.A. fashion shows, and Lucia’s selections have a distinctly relaxed, breezy West Coast feel because of it. Turnover is high, thanks to the loyal bands of creative, working-girl types and young moms who are happy to find there are still deals to be had in brownstone Brooklyn—at least on clothing.
