This stroller company has been making its ubiquitous status-symbol buggies since the sixties, and it launched its first stand-alone showroom in Soho in 2007. The space displays strollers in a spalike setting, with bare white walls and dark-wood floorboards. One set of new stroller models is displayed in a circle, while others line the walls or perch on a dramatic display strewn with rocks and plants. A large makeshift bathroom in back showcases Maclaren’s range of body products for moms, including massage oil, facial mist, bath milk, and hydrating belly balm. The standby brand is best known for its “5 Second Fold” model, which can be collapsed in five seconds for easy city-toting. Even amid the sleek décor, the showroom acts as a test track for the upscale buggies, and shoppers often bring their children along for a test-drive.
