Profile
Manhattan Grand Optical opened in November of 2003, when Salvatore Riggio and Paul Chin of Manhattan Optical and Leonard Altabet of Worthy Eyes closed their old eyewear shops and combined their customers. Open every day, the store always has an eye doctor present; walk-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred and can be booked online. The shop offers motor-vehicle and InfantSEE exams and fits both hard and soft contact lenses. At the crossroads of Little Italy, Chinatown, and Nolita, Manhattan Optical attracts tourists as well as locals. On display are affordable brands like Colors in Optics—a retro line popular in the eighties—as well as designer names such as Coach, Chanel, Oakley, and Ray Ban. Quality sunglasses by Maui Jim and Costa del Mar are also in stock.
