This West Village used bookstore is a hit with its NYU neighbors thanks to esoteric categories such as Urban Planning, Lit Crit, and Poli Sci. But don't let its collegiate location fool you: There are no textbooks here. Instead, there's a towering assembly of art, architecture, and photography books; a slew of cheap, uncorrected galleys; a sprawling fiction section; and a rich collection of literary anthologies in sub-genres such as flash fiction and "best-of" selections from M.F.A. short-story workshops. The jam-packed shelves are no match for the huge and ever-rotating stock, and milk crates line the already-tight aisles to accommodate the overflow. Meanwhile, those who've put their college days—and the required reading that comes with them—behind them can check out the bin of used vinyl or the cabinet of signed, rare, and otherwise collectible books.
