Profile
Dr. Edward H. Miles opened this midtown eyeglass shop in the nineties. The space may be tiny—you can’t spin around with your arms spread without colliding into a display case—but at any given time, it’s filled with between 700 and 1,000 frames. A wide variety of designers is represented—you’ll find Dior, Gucci, and Armani, as well as more wallet-friendly options including Jones New York, Dockers, and Legre. On staff are four optometrists (who conduct eye exams), a rotating team of salespeople (who help customers choose frames), and one optician (who fits glasses). Customers do have one gripe, however: The store’s archaic filing system has been known to cause delays, so it’s best to call ahead for pickups.
