Rather than seek out someone else’s shop to showcase her hand-wrought iron beds, tables, and chairs, artist Kristina Kozak decided to open her own space. Mine features her swirly, one-of-a-kind metalwork alongside appliquéd pillows from the Sandoval Collection and Thomas Paul, earthy Napa Home & Garden ceramics, Sympatico scented candles, Roost’s bronze-tinged hermit-crab sculptures, and other accents for the home. (Kozak also sources linens and gift items on her frequent sojourns to Asia.) Decorative metal furnishings and a smattering of John Robshaw bedding aren’t the only goods on offer here: Aesthetically minded security freaks might consider investing in one of Kozak’s window grates. Unlike the unsightly vertical bars that blockade so many apartment windows, these handcrafted works are so sculptural that you forget that they’re meant to keep burglars out.
