Husband-and-wife owners Miriam and Jose Seijas moved to Cobble Hill after emigrating from Cuba in the fifties and sixties and opened this tranquil women’s boutique in 1980. The 700-square-foot, single-room shop’s unadorned white walls and cream-colored carpet don’t distract from the no-nonsense basics and practical separates. Though the designer labels have changed over the years, the shop remains focused on unfussy workwear, muted palettes, and elegant detailing that locals have come to expect. Dark-wood tables stacked with feather-soft T-shirts by Acrobat and silky camisoles in shades of black, gray, and beige are tucked between racks of stiff lace skirts and pin-striped BCBG pants and corduroys. Up front, two glass cases display wide leather belts, metal bangles, and strands of pearls. Fall brings an extensive selection of outerwear, from puffy down vests to stiff, plum-colored wool coats. A tailor is available to make quick alterations for customers.
