Owner-designer Maima Sonii's intimate two-room boutique is a welcome oasis of pretty party dresses and appealingly priced accessories just around the corner from the frenzy of St. Marks Place. The feminine collection is sophisticated and fun with a hint of the exotic. Don’t be distracted by the T-shirts and denim—it’s the dresses that steal the show. Sleek satin shifts by Shulami, black cotton button-downs by Love Stitch, and Sonii’s floral sun dresses are ready for anything, anywhere. Simple straw and felt hats by Toucan are displayed alongside Sonii’s creations; one such signature design, a scrunchy black cylinder of soft crepe, possesses a timeless urban chic. Jewelry cases in the front room brim with Tomoko Kanashima’s chunky stone pendants. In the back room, a large array of handbags includes sturdy leather Tano shoulder slings, metallic Hobo clutches, and edgier Anteprima-Nueve designs. The hippest bag on offer, though, is Sonii’s own bronze-on-black "Brooklyn Bridge" tote. — Macy Halford
