Located in the Lower East Side on the Chinatown border, this vintage furniture and home-accessories shop is off the beaten path for casual shoppers, instead attracting mostly decorators and designers. Owner Mark Naylon—who studied architecture and interior design, apprenticed with a craftsman, and worked in a twentieth-century antiques store—decided to combine all his interests by opening his own store in Williamsburg in 2001. The current location, which he moved to about three years later, has two spacious levels. The styled upstairs showroom displays the best tables, chairs, dressers, and lighting from the store's stock of high-quality, mid-century wares from the forties through seventies. Downstairs is the overflow, plus smaller items. It's also where Naylon restores the store's merchandise, fixes up goods his clients buy elsewhere, and crafts diverse custom pieces like sofas and cabinets.
