Housed in the same building as fellow Williamsburg thrift shop Buffalo Exchange, Monk Vintage is an unassuming alternative for those seeking a wider selection of clothes and dated collectibles. Inside, the neon walls are accented with shelves of vintage cameras, hats, and luggage. The clothing selection is diverse, if not particularly rare or high-end. For women, there are plenty of summery dresses and retro-country button-down shirts, while the men’s side is full of buffalo plaid (a Williamsburg wardrobe staple) and ironic logo tees. The jeans selection is sizable, alongside a smaller variety of outlandish slacks, like golf-course-worthy plaid pants. Up front, rows of chunky rings and delicate pendants fill the counter display cases, alongside bowls of bright plastic bracelets and shelves of sunglasses and small, beaded handbags.
