Monocle editor-in-chief Tyler Brûlé opened this 188-square-foot storefront in August, 2010, as a retail extension of his travel and lifestyle magazine. The space houses an evolving collection of brand-approved fashion and lifestyle products, including Monocle x Comme des Garçons candles from Paris, passport holders from Belgian luxury brand Delvaux, Choux à la Crème notebooks from Lebanon, and swim trunks from Italian designer Alberto Aspesi. Back issues of the magazine line the Vitsú shelving around the store’s perimeter. The signature black and white design scheme also hosts Monocle branded products like the Expo travel poster series, compilation CDs from the Monocle Live concert series, and editor-vetted items like Japanese cookbooks that have appeared in the magazine.
