This British luxury brand has come a long way from its humbler roots as a luggage company. Known for its well-made, classic purses, Mulberry also excels at ready-to-wear womenswear, women’s shoes, and men’s leather accessories (though Mulberry has discontinued its men’s ready-to-wear line). The shop, the first in the United States, mainly focuses on handbags—everything from clutches to oversized messenger bags come in both neutral and seasonal colored leather. These highly coveted, supple carryalls sit on shelves and tables throughout the store, which is a sophisticated mix of dark wood, white walls, and polished brass accents (there’s even a fully brass check-out counter). And in an homage to the history of the space, which once housed a printer’s workshop, 8,000 primary-colored hardcover books are stacked with their pages facing outward, creating winding dividers between the goods. — Danielle Walsh
