With an inconspicuous sign out front, this cool-kid garment-district store houses Engineered Garments and Needles—two Japanese-designed cult labels with a quirky reinterpretation of American heritage clothing. While walls exhibit art that changes monthly, the store’s racks are lined with traditional workwear that’s suited to the street. From Engineered Garments’ bold-hued field jackets to Needles’ color-blocked cowboy shirts, this is functional clothing with flourish, where exceptionally constructed pieces boast offbeat details (Hawaiian patterns, extra-long cuffs) and materials (tech fabrics). The second floor echoes this experimental spirit by hosting pop-up shops of hard-to-find streetwear brands.
