A peaceful vibe pervades this quaint, quirky children’s store, which is refreshingly free of the overall frenzy of typical toy emporiums. There are no blinking lights or garishly-colored packaging here, instead, the small space is stocked with games and gadgets from mostly European makers, like French brand Moulin Roty and Belgium-based Lilliputian. Focusing on educational, eco-friendly, and fairly-traded playthings for infants to 5-year-olds, the store’s selection includes canvas night lights, foreign-language flash cards, miniature music boxes, fabric puppets and eco-paste, a modern-day play-dough made from rice flour and rosemary oil, as well as artwork, furniture and books. Perfectly positioned near the playground in Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 6 section, and offering linen-lined wicker gift baskets and raffia-fastened gift-wrapping, the shop is an ideal last-minute stop for the birthday-party-bound, while an assortment of receiving blankets and snugly apparel is available for post-delivery visitors heading to nearby Long Island College Hospital. And for parents who live in the neighborhood, a sing-along and story hour is hosted on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m.
