You can smell the giant bags of pie filling and blocks of Valrohna chocolate
when you walk in. The bakeware is professional-grade with over 4,000 items,
the choices staggering—a dozen kinds of spatulas alone. The cake-pan department
is even bigger.

Where do I begin?! The store is great for the numerous supplies they have. However, one of the many downsides is that the customer service sucks BIG time. Went there once and I must say I was impressed, but every minute the man behind the cash register kept yelling "next" as if he were trying to rush people out of the store. Not good customer service. Keep people, not chase them away. Another thing about this store, BY ALL MEANS, DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD THERE! The credit card system is either out of date (which looked modern) or they did not program the machine to only show the last 4 digits of your card. Instead, the whole card number is displayed on both receipts. BE WARY! And if you scratch it off, they can reprint if they didn't ring up another customer. So USE CASH ONLY! That means creating a budget. Otherwise, it's an ok place to get your baking supply needs. Also, the register is the "punch the numbers in register by hand", so watch how much they charge you. Approach with caution with this review in mind!
Dizzying choices; never a sale; people could be nicer
First things first is that it's great to have a place like this in the Flatiron neighborhood. Wilton character cake pans, cake fillings, every possible sprinkly confection, cookie cutters, books & magazines, cake toppers--it's all here. You'll pay regular retail, but it sure is convenient. The people, in the several times I've been there, are really on the dour side.
