A division of Pearl Paint, NYC Home & Craft caters to the urban do-it-yourself and creative types of all ages. The first floor of the two-story shop has paints by Benjamin Moore along with all of the gear needed—rollers, border stencils, plastic gloves—to gussy up an apartment’s walls. But that’s just the beginning. Bare wood light-switch covers, jewelry boxes, and mini-flower pots call out to be painted by the rainbow of acrylics and glitter glues nearby. There are bundles of yarn, rolls of thread, and tubes of beads and stick-on rhinestones for the fashion-inclined. And upstairs, scrapbookers can find stamps, stickers, funky trimming scissors, themed albums, and a small selection of acid-free stock—right next to crepe paper, brightly colored feathers, and blank masks just waiting for a kid with a big imagination.
