Profile
Eddy Chai and Paul Birardi, the trendsetting duo behind menswear store Odin and the perennial pop-up Den, opened this adjacent women’s boutique in fall 2008. Sharing a wall and an address with Odin, Pas de Deux is modeled after a Parisian boutique, with checkerboard-tiled floors, gray-blue walls, gently weathered, antique-inspired furniture, and chandeliers overhead. Towering Loeffler Randall heels and small floral bouquets are reflected on mirrored central tables, and a vanity table in back displays fragrances from Beth Terry and Comme des Garçons. Dresses, skirts, and tops in feathery fabrics line both sides of the long, narrow space, including silk skirts from Clu, stiff trenches and denim from rag & bone, Phillip Lim’s knit dresses and angora sweaters, Lover tuxedo shirts, and embellished, pleated cocktail dresses by Vena Cava. Accessories are interspersed on shelves between clothing racks, presenting Repetto flats, handmade card holders from Entermodal, Karen Walker eyewear, and soft-leather wristlet clutches from Boyy. A weathered wood case along the back wall holds intricate jewelry, like tiny, gold key trinkets by Phillip Crangi and handcrafted bespoke bracelets from Bing Bang by Anna Sheffield.
