After successfully tapping into the burgeoning New York designer fashion scene with the opening of Plum in 2005, Jackie Atkins expanded her offerings next door with a complementary shoe store a year later—a Pear for her Plum. This dimly lit, shoebox-size space is stuffed full with to-die-for footwear from hard-to-find brands like Devotte and lesser-known names like Rachel Comey and Pink Studio. Parlor-style velvet chairs, beat-up wood floors, and antique accent pieces make shopping here feel like crashing the estate sale of a foot fetishist. What sets Pear apart from the myriad of other shops lining Ludlow Street is the way Atkins pops back and forth between the shops to suggest the newest and coolest Lynne Larson cocktail dress to go with your Tashkent by Cheyenne wedges.
