Ever since Peter Mercurio and Stephan Hermann Worobel opened this tiny accessory boutique in 1987, it’s been a haven for handbag lovers. Regulars looking for new releases from cult brands—say, graphic-printed Orla Kiely sacks or retro-chic Jamin Puech totes adorned with beads—are sometimes squeezed out by casual foot traffic attracted by the window display of whimsical orange crocodile change purses. Mandarina Duck fanatics, in particular, frequent the shop for the brand’s durable nylon luggage and MD-20 backpacks. And women and men alike gravitate toward the front counter, with its display of Cutler & Gross aviators from London and Paul Smith card cases. — Rose Reis

It's true! Designer Catherine Malandrino said so in a recent article in French Marie Claire. She loves Peter Hermann because he is one of the few stores that carry French Designer
Renaud Pellegrino's handmade handbags. The average price these day's is $1400 for one of these timeless, top of the line beauties. Peter told me he was permitted into Renaud's workshop in Paris where about 10 people work making all the bags completely by hand. Peter also tells me he has a very strong following for Renaud Pellegrino and that some of his customers buy 2 at a time because they can't decide which color they love the most.
Can't wait for Renaud to do a men's line. I'll have to save up first!!!!!!!!!
Peter Hermann is a great place to fill all of your Mandarina Duck needs. It's hard to find a shop that stocks as much Mandarina as PH does. Mandarina Duck was recently sold to another big company so it will be interesting to see what comes out in the next year. The styles are already so drastically different than say 3 years ago. Peter say's now he has become very sellective in what he chooses to carry from them. P.H. used to repair Mandarina Duck for those who purchased their bags elsewhere but this is no longer the case. Now you have to contact Mandarina directly via their web site with any issues you may have. Peter will take great care of you if you buy from him however. He told me that P.H. will be the only shop in the US that has access to the bag lines from Mandarina Duck for 2008 at least. This store is must for all you Mandarina Duck fans to check out.
