Located on the east side of Grand Central Terminal, this full-service bookstore is a hub for folks looking for something to read on their morning and evening commutes. The family-owned chain is eponymously named for Eugene Posman, who opened this shop in 1999; while other outposts have since opened throughout the city, this one, with double the space of the Chelsea location, remains the largest. The store, which is stocked with 30,000 titles, has a wide selection: New York Times best sellers, romance novels, children’s books, and an extensive backlist of “oldies but goodies.” And it’s an ideal shopping spot for any midtown denizen in a rush—employees, used to customers running to catch trains, are experts at helping customers find what they’re looking for in a hurry. — Robert Owen Brown
