Rag & Bone
American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Visa
David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, the design duo behind rag & bone, opened their second Manhattan location in September 2009. The space reflects the minimalist-meets-industrial aesthetic of the clothes, with a vintage American flag, bare mannequins, and worn trunks scattered about with studied airiness. Large black-and-white paintings depicting concert scenes by artist Todd DiCiurcio line the walls, dwarfed only by a giant, framed floor-to-ceiling mirror. The clothes hang on simple rolling metal racks, separated into menswear and womenswear. Expect twill and cotton trousers, gauzy tanks, rugby shirts, and cotton button-downs in the spring, while cooler months bring leather bombers, wool blazers, and stacks of inky-dark denim. Luxe accessories like leather pumps, wool ties, and artfully frayed scarves cover a weathered table near the front of the store, while long white curtains shield the atrium-like dressing area in back.
