This crowded, kitschy shop is stocked with an array of gifts both effortless (picture frames, vases, artsy journals) and off-the-wall, like paparazzi action figures and Titanic-shaped ice cube trays. The narrow central aisle is flanked on both sides by tall, store-spanning shelves, each packed with merchandise alternately cute, clever, and tacky. Animal-shaped salt and pepper shakers, hand-painted glassware, scented candles, wide-eyed toys, kitchen gear, office gadgets, and New York guidebooks share limited space. Hooks near the doorway are draped in screen-printed tote bags, and a clothesline strung across the front window bears onesies printed with tongue-in-cheek phrases. The main counter in back doubles as a glass display case for chunky costume jewelry and cuff links. Though the hit-or-miss selection is befitting of the store’s name, the supply also includes gifting staples like wrapping paper, ribbons, and greeting cards.
