Since its humble beginnings in the forties as a single furniture store in upstate New York, Raymour & Flanigan has expanded down the eastern seaboard, and is now known throughout the Northeast as a place where big-name brands and low price points commingle. The sprawling showroom spans the aesthetic spectrum, from leather Verona easy chairs to more rustic wooden Ashby table-and-chair sets that would work equally well in a Manhattan penthouse or a country kitchen. Sealy Postur-Pedic and Tempur-Pedic mattresses and pillows highlight a smaller selection of bedroom furniture, and miscellany like crystal vases, lamps, and motel-appropriate artwork are scattered throughout the store. Much of the Rowe, La-Z-Boy, and Clayton Marcus furniture is priced in the low triple-digit range, and if customers find a nearby store that has their purchase for less, Raymour & Flanigan will refund the difference, plus an extra 5 percent. — Alex Littlefield
